PROJECT ARES

A hilltop property on the Byron Bay hinterland. Open plan, high ceilings, timber floors, and that view..

We came in with fresh eyes, sourcing key pieces and reorganising the home from the ground up. Every room got considered — what stayed, what moved, what needed to arrive. The result is relaxed but intentional. Warm and edited.

The Living Room

The anchor of the space is a white boucle sofa. Paired with a raw live edge slab coffee table, a vintage Moroccan rug, a hand made Egyptian mother of pearl table and a vintage high back lounge chair. This room has a layered quality that feels collected over time rather than styled in a day. Coffee table books, a small sculptural object. Nothing more than it needs.

Where the home really exhales is the deck. A vintage marble table is the centre of the outdoor space, its worn surface a quiet contrast to the surrounding bush. The wide sliding doors dissolve the boundary between inside and out.

The Bedroom

Pared back to almost nothing — we were definitely going minimalist in this room. A solid timber bed frame, white linen, a Persian rug underfoot. A timber bench sits beneath the window framing an uninterrupted view to the hills beyond. At golden hour, the room turns amber. It's a space that does its best work at sunrise.

The statement painting anchors the room against white walls. A tan leather armchair sits opposite, letting the work breathe. The contrast is everything.

The Kitchen

Open shelving lined with dark ceramics and earthenware, a timber benchtop, fresh flowers in a glass vase. A wide sliding door opens directly to deck, flooding the space with afternoon light. Functional and beautiful in equal measure.
